ST NICS LIKE?
WHAT IS ST NICS LIKE?
St Nics has a home in the centre ground of evangelical Anglicanism in the heart of the
City of Durham. As part of the Church of England we have a diverse community of 250-
300 regular Sunday attenders across several services, and of all ages. As a Diocesan-
designated resource church St Nics is in an exciting time of both transition and growth.
Our worship – across three regular services (9am, 11am & 630pm) and a monthly
service at 4pm - is generally of a contemporary-liturgical form (with traditional
elements at the 9am) and we are open to a more charismatic direction.
We believe that people are changed as they are brought into an encounter with Jesus
Christ, by the work of the Spirit, and it is this work of God that transforms lives and
communities. Because of this, worship is integral to all we want to be as a church.
WHAT IS DURHAM LIKE?
Durham is a compact, vibrant, university city with ancient streets, many bridges over the winding River Wear and a magnificent Norman cathedral. It has a rich cultural heritage and excellent modern amenities such as gyms, cinemas, shops, restaurants, and theatre venues.
We benefit from being a 15 minute train ride away from the centre of Newcastle with all the advantages that a large city can offer. (And London is only three hours by train.) If you prefer countryside or beaches, we are within easy reach of both.
We hope you will enjoy England's beautiful North East, whether you are just visiting, or making your home here.
