St Nics Updates
Community Notice Board

Morning Prayer
Morning Prayer happens every Tuesday - Friday at 8am, This is a great way to start your day. We use a really simple pattern of prayer that the Church has been praying for centuries. If you can only make one morning prayer a week, why not come on a Wednesday where you can enjoy refreshments
before and after we pray.
Small Groups
Small groups are a great way to connect with others in the church, meet new people, and to grow in faith. Our vision is that every one of us might find a home in a small group. Our small groups come in all shapes and sizes, times of the day, online and in person.
If you would like to know more, or join a small group, please contact Chris and Fiona our small group pastors at smallgroups@stnics.org.uk

Serving At St Nics
We believe that God calls us to serve him and others, and that we encounter him in a fresh way as we do. As we move into the next part of St Nics' journey, we would love for everyone to serve as part of one of our teams. How little or how often is completely up to you!
There are so many different ways you can serve, from very small things to much larger, but all are part of us serving God’s work here at Nics.
If you would like to serve, please do follow this link. Alternatively please ring 0191 384 1180.
City Doors Team
We recognise that being a church with doors that open onto the Market Place is a privilege and a responsibility. We are looking for people to help support those who come to our services and events who are currently sleeping rough, or are in acute need.
If you’d like to be part of this new team, please email office@stnics.org.uk

The crate will be located outside the kitchen.

Still Waters Radio
A few members of our congregation are working on an exciting project, an online radio station called Still Waters Radio. Drawing inspiration from Psalm 23, this station aims to bring peace and connection through the airwaves. You can tune in by visiting www.stillwatersradio.co.uk.
For more details, visit the About Us page or reach out to Dave Ross, who is leading efforts to expand the station and foster community connections through the power of radio.

Volunteer for the Durham Winter Night Shelter
Handcrafted, an organization supporting socially and financially excluded individuals in the North East, runs the Durham Winter Night Shelter, providing a warm bed for those who would otherwise be sleeping rough on the coldest nights.
They are currently seeking volunteers to help keep the shelter open this winter. Adults of all ages, skills, and time availability are needed, and a large team is essential for the shelter’s success.
If you feel called to help, sign up for training and join the team by clicking this link: Volunteer Sign-Up Form.
St Nics Mentorship Scheme
We're so excited to have a partnership with Durham Sixth Form Centre through the St. Nics Mentorship scheme. Could you support a sixth form student in their A-Levels, mentoring them for an hour a week in their chosen subject? If you're interested, please do be in touch with Hannah at youth.hannah@stnics.org.uk

Alpha +
If you have enjoyed Alpha, why not continue the journey? There are two ways you can stay connected.
One is to join an existing Small Group who meet regularly for conversation, prayer and study. Just email smallgroups@stnics.org.uk and we will get you connected.
The other is to come along to our continuation of Alpha, Alpha+, which is especially for those not yet connected with a small group. It will follow exactly the same format as the Alpha course (video, conversation) but with cake and tea instead of a meal.
The 5-week course starts on March 4th, in the church, 730pm.
Sign a card to say farewell to Victor
Victor Petrenko, the Director of the Latvian Biblical Centre (LBC), which we support, will be leaving his role of Director later this year. All who would like to send their thanks for his leadership at LBC are invited to sign the card, which will be available in church at all the services on Sunday 16th March.

We meet from 3.30pm, when you can get a cup of tea or coffee first. The prayer time is from 4.00pm to 5.00pm.
It's a great opportunity to hear about some of those we support, who serve with other churches and organisations in other parts of the world.

St. Nics Music Recommendations
The songs we sing shape how we see the Lord, our world, and ourselves. This Lent, Worship & Discipleship Pastors Timmy and Elise have shared music for the season. Resound Worship's "Downcast Souls Expectant Hearts" (2024) holds together themes of sorrow and lament with confidence and hope across 20 songs. Maverick City’s "Jubilee" highlights themes of God's justice and restoration. Find both albums on their websites or streaming services.

Want to work for the CU in Durham?!
UCFC are looking for motivated change-makers who have a heart to see students come to faith in Christ and a passion to help students live and speak for Jesus. The strengths each Christian Union Staff Worker (CUSW) brings to the role can vary, but at the heart of the work are skills to help students think and live biblically, and the ability to disciple, motivate and influence students to share the gospel.
